Swim Time Converter
Use this free swim converter to convert swimming times between short course yards (SCY), short course meters (SCM), and long course meters (LCM). Enter your event and time, choose courses, and get an instant swimming time conversion—ideal for college recruiting comparisons.
Converted time
Conversions are estimates for recruiting comparisons, not official NCAA or USA Swimming marks. Long freestyle events convert between paired distances (400m/500y, 800m/1000y, 1500m/1650y). Altitude uses USA Swimming adjustment bands when selected.
How this swimming time conversion tool works
- Select your event (for example, 100 Free or 200 IM).
- Enter your time as minutes and seconds (like
0:52.34or1:02.15). - Choose the course you swam (SCY, SCM, or LCM) and the course you want.
- Optional: add an altitude adjustment if the swim was at 3,000 feet or higher.
- Click Convert to see your estimated equivalent time.
SCY vs SCM vs LCM
- SCY (short course yards): 25-yard pools—standard for most U.S. high school and NCAA dual meets.
- SCM (short course meters): 25-meter pools—common internationally and in some U.S. meets.
- LCM (long course meters): 50-meter Olympic pools—used for Trials, Worlds, and summer championships.
Because shorter pools have more turns and push-offs, the same effort often looks faster in SCY than LCM. A swim time converter helps recruits and families compare yard times with meter times when emailing college coaches.
Swim converter FAQ
What searches does this tool help with?
Athletes commonly look for a swim converter, swim time converter, or SCY to LCM converter when building recruiting short lists and tracking progress across seasons.
Can I convert SCM to SCY?
Yes. Set From to SC Meters and To to SC Yards, then convert. The same works for every SCY / SCM / LCM combination.
Is this the same idea as SwimSwam’s classic converter?
Yes in purpose: a classic course conversion between yards and meters using Colorado Timing–style factors. Use results for planning and outreach, not as official meet entries.
